As they days roll by, it seems more and more cliche to say (or think) "I can't believe by baby is ________!!!" But, I really can't! ...can't believe he is walking, feeding himself, looking at books, AGING. Who the heck is this CHILD? He is not very baby-like anymore. On Wednesday, Jacob turned 15 months. We commemorated the occasion by going to the doctor for his well baby check-up and getting an MMR shot! Here are his new stats:
25.4 lbs--50%
32"--95%
He has gained 8 oz. and grown 2 inches since his 12 month appointment. He is perfectly healthy and doing great. I thank the Lord every day for blessing Jacob with good health and no issues to speak of. Jacob is just a joy!
At 15 months, Jacob can say a few words such as mama, dada, bye bye (and wave), and some other words that are debatable such as dog and bay (Bailey?). He also is very good at doing the duck and dog sounds. Sometimes he will say reebee (ribbit) or rawr for this taxidermy bobcat in Uncle James' room. He talks A LOT, it's just that most of it isn't in English :) Some new favorite foods are clementines and beef jerky. He is still a big blueberry eater and has quite the sweet tooth. He loves to be outside running around and he is full of energy. The biggest thing I would like to remember about this age is how loving and affectionate he is. I hope this never changes. He is constantly showering me with hugs and kisses and he likes to hold my hair when he is tired. He will give others kisses too, but not as often as Mommy! Jacob absolutely adores his great grandparents. He spent a lot of time with them this semester while I was going to school and they really bonded. He recognizes the neighborhood as we are approaching their house and he understands and gets excited when I mention "Nanny" or "Papa."
Jacob has gotten comfortable with all our family here in Dallas and I hope we will be able to maintain these close relationships throughout his childhood.
His next appointment is at 18 months and he will be getting more shots then but I will put that out of my mind for now. Did I mention I have to HOLD HIM DOWN every time he gets a shot. Yeah, I think that makes it more traumatic for everyone involved. Read: Jacob and me. But I guess he isn't just going to lay there and take it so I've gotta step in. Whew! This age is exhausting! Maybe I should note that at the top so I don't forget it ;)
