Mother's Day

I had a really nice mother's day this year. Jacob gave me a tokidoki notebook and some stickers and Jordan framed Jacob's painting from his art class last fall. I really love this painting, it is sentimental to me! And now it is framed and hanging in my living room. It makes me happy.

Jacob and I went to church Sunday morning. It was our first time there and I really liked it. My neighbor invited us. I plan to go back. I have had a hard time finding a church down here so I hope this one will work out!

After church, we went out to lunch at Thai Island. We had sushi and it was so good! This place is in walking distance of our old house, yet we had never eaten there before. We were seriously missing out! The restaurant is upstairs next to a boat yard and Jacob really appreciated the BOATS!!! he could see out the window.

Then this popped up:
Thanks a lot. I just lost my appetite! And may I re-emphasize that we were on the SECOND FLOOR. Yuck, I hate these iguanas! They are everywhere. They scare me to death always popping up out of nowhere. This guy seemed like he REALLY wanted to come in. I didn't let him.
This is the best picture out of about 5 that Jordan took of us. I guess Jacob is just in a "phase." That probably explains why most of the pictures I have of him from the last several months are action shots or the back of his head as he looks at something. You know, for proof that he was there, and looking at it.

It seemed like it took forever for the main course to come out but I really can't attest to how long we actually waited. Entertaining Jacob at a restaurant is exhausting and continuous work. Thankfully, our waiter seemed to realize this and he brought Jacob a bowl of steamed broccoli and tofu cubes. He doesn't eat broccoli at home but he recently learned the word in one of his books. He calls it "bobby." I was amazed at how he scarfed that tofu down. The bowl was more than half full and he ate it ALL.

At the end of this second video, the waiter sets our sushi boat on the table and Jacob says "AIRPANES!"

He knows the difference between the "airpane" and the boat so I think he just got excited when he saw THIS:

We have never ordered a sushi boat before and it was exciting! It was just so festive. And it was the perfect serving. We each ate half and were satisfied afterwards. Jacob ate ALL the decorative orange wedges.
This was SO. GOOD.

Then we ate some fried ice cream.

Then I thought maybe I should lie down. Or unbutton my pants. Except I was wearing a dress. So we just left.
I have a lot of pictures like this but it just melts my heart. I always feel like I need to snap a photo when they are holding hands. This time is fleeting.
Jordan is actually following Jacob's lead here, leaning through the wall to look at all the fish.

After our lunch, we ran a few errands, nothing interesting and headed home. Later that afternoon Jordan went grocery shopping for me (YES!) and then I fixed dinner and we quietly settled back into normalcy. A happy mother's day, indeed.

Thank you Jordan for making my day so special.
