Jacob polished off a carrot cupcake with cream cheese frosting on Friday night. He licked all the frosting off and then smashed up the cake. He ate some of it but he wasn't as careful about it as he was with getting every last drop of frosting! Jordan took a motorcycle course last weekend to get his license so he was gone all weekend long. Friday night, I baked cupcakes for Jacob and myself because we were home alone and I was practicing for some cupcakes I planned to make for Jordan on Father's Day. However, we still had so many carrot cupcakes on Sunday, I decided to postpone the other recipe. Don't worry. They are ALL gone now! :)
Jacob calls this his bike. And this child is OBSESSED with helmets. It's honestly gotten so obnoxious because he will just chant HELMEETS HELMEETS! over and over again. He can't be distracted. He will not give up. It drives me crazy! He starts asking for a helmet first thing in the morning when he wakes up. Since becoming a mother, I'm constantly laughing at the things that come out of my mouth. Recently, I was in the kitchen trying to make some lunch and Jacob was relentlessly trying to get some sort of helmet. I had already told him no several times and finally decided just to ignore it and hope he would stop. Of course, he didn't and I was at my wits end. Seriously, folks, this had gone on for 5-10 minutes. I wish I was exaggerating. He is CRAZY about helmets. So! I turned to him and said "SHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Stop CHANTING!!!" Chanting! HA! There really isn't a better way to describe his repeated requests for helmeets though! He is wearing Jordan's old motorcycle helmet in this picture. Jordan put an extra battery in his "bike" to make it go faster and as you can see, he is going very fast!
Jordan took this picture of Jacob doing his new excited face. He cracks me up. He just started doing this. He will clench his fists, grit his teeth and kind of shake his head with excitement. I believe they were waiting for me to finish making dinner.
Um. That is a giant pig skin aka "chicharrones" that Jordan bought at Albertson's. And he is eating it in our bed. Yes, I had to wash the sheets after that tasty little snack.Hi everyone. My sincerest apologies for being a negligent blogger. I have opened this window several times over the last month, just willing my fingers to type out some kind of post. But I just don't have it in me. It's not that I have nothing to say. I have a LOT to say and it's overwhelming. I'm tired. Jordan's tired. Jacob is TIRING! Our schedule is full right now but it's either Jordan or me who has to be somewhere while the other one cares for Jacob. We hardly see each other and family dinners are a thing of the past. I finished college algebra last week and tonight I started a computer applications class. Thankfully, the computer class is only twice a week so I'm hoping to get into a new routine soon. Jordan is taking a different computer class on Monday and Wednesday so we are alternating nights with Jacob. Jordan is going to start working late on Friday nights to accommodate our school schedule and he also works on Saturdays at Borders. Whew! We have our eye on the prize as we are both set to graduate in December. Reminding myself that we are only going to do this for a few more months makes it much easier to deal with. Plus, living a military lifestyle helps you get used to the idea that everything in life is temporary. Jordan has already been here for a year and is half way done with his orders here. It's amazing how time seems to go so fast, yet so slow. Jacob is nearly 2 and I'm really starting to feel the time slipping away. I want him to stay a baby forever!!! Well...maybe not.
A couple of weeks ago, I took Jacob up to the college with me to talk to my professor during his office hours. I was carrying Jacob on my hip and when I walked into his office, he said "Oh, is this your older child?" And I said "No...I've just got this one!" Then he looked at Jacob for a minute and said "I thought you said you had a baby."
And I did! I did say that! Because he is my baby. But he isn't a baby anymore. And I felt silly standing there with my nearly 30 pound toddler on my hip LIKE a baby as it occurred to me that I do talk about him to others as if he were fresh out of the oven. How in the heck is he nearly 2?!?
So, this might be the most rambling, unorganized post I have ever written. It seems I had some topics I just needed to get off my chest! I have a whole folder of May photos that never made it to the blog so I'm going to try to do some back posting this week and hopefully this ice breaker post will keep me blogging again.
